Sleeping Bear Bay is nestled by Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore near Glen Arbor, along the shores of Leelanau County on Lake Michigan in Michigan's lower peninsula. This aerial photo was taken from Glen Arbor in the Summer, facing north towards North Manitou Island and South Manitou Island.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore stretches from near Crystal Lake (near Beulah & Frankfort) north past Empire and Glen Arbor and includes the North and South Manitou Islands. This page features aerial and ground-level photos that feature different areas of Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Glen Lake is divided into two sections, known as “Little Glen Lake” and “Big Glen Lake.” This is one of my favorite spots in Michigan! In this region of the northwestern lower peninsula you can kayak the open waters of Big Glen Lake or travel down the Crystal River, which connects Glen Lake to Lake Michigan.
